It's so nice to meet you.

Hi there, I’m Caroline. Originally from Connecticut and now based in New York City, I photograph weddings, engagements, and families with one goal in mind: creating timeless images that become part of your story for generations.

I believe photography should feel effortless and meaningful. The moments we capture are not just for today. They are the photographs your children will hold onto one day. The ones that live in frames, albums, and heirloom boxes. The images that bring you back to exactly how it felt.

My style is classic and true to life, centered on preserving emotion. I am drawn to the quiet in between moments just as much as the big celebrations. The squeeze of a hand during vows. The nervous excitement before a proposal. The way your child reaches for you without thinking. Those subtle, fleeting details are often the most meaningful.

Whether I am documenting your engagement in Central Park, your wedding day surrounded by family, or a portrait session with the people you love most, my focus remains the same: capturing what is real, enduring, and deeply personal.

Frequency Asked Questions

What kind of photography do you offer?
I specialize in natural, candid photography for families, couples, weddings, elopements, proposals, and events. Sessions are relaxed, joyful, and storytelling-focused.

Where are you located and do you travel?
I’m based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, but was raised in Westport, CT. I regularly photograph in NYC (Manhattan, Brooklyn, Queens), Connecticut, New Jersey, Philadelphia. I’m always happy to travel to capture your most special moments.

How do I book a session with you?
Just reach out via my contact form or email me directly at caroline@carolinefordephotography.com! I’ll schedule a quick phone call to talk through the session details, answer questions, and create a custom game plan.

How will I receive my photos?
You’ll receive a fully edited, high-resolution online gallery (Pic-Time). All images are yours to download, print, and share freely.

Do you retouch or edit the photos?
Yes! Every image is professionally edited for color, light, and overall polish. I keep retouching natural, removing distractions like flyaways or small blemishes while preserving your authentic look.

Where are the best spots for engagement photos in NYC?

I love meeting couples in their own neighborhoods, photographing them in places that already hold meaning in their everyday lives. Some of my favorite engagement photo locations in New York City include Central Park, especially Bethesda Terrace and Bow Bridge, Dumbo and Brooklyn Bridge Park, Prospect Park, the West Village, and the New York Public Library. That said, the best location is always the one that feels most like you. Whether it is the street where you met, your favorite coffee shop, or the park you walk through every Sunday, choosing a place that feels comfortable and meaningful will always create the most natural and timeless images.

Can we combine engagement photos and save-the-dates?
Absolutely! These sessions are perfect for both.

What should we wear for an engagement session?
Stick to outfits that feel like you. Choose clothing you feel great in, and consider neutral tones or coordinating colors. If one party has an outfit change, I recommend for your partner to do the same!

Do you photograph proposals?
Yes! Proposal sessions include discreet coverage of the big moment plus 1 hour of editorial-style portraits and candid celebration shots.

What should we wear for family photos?
Coordinate without matching. Blues work well at the beach, while warm tones like reds and oranges pop in fall sessions.

Do you offer mini sessions?
Yes! I offer seasonal mini sessions in Connecticut, NYC, and Brooklyn, especially from October through December. They’re great for holiday cards or quick family updates.

How do I prepare my kids for a family shoot?
Bring snacks, toys, and a sense of fun! I keep things playful to help kids (and grownups) feel relaxed and engaged.

What’s it like to get married at NYC City Hall?
It’s fast-paced, intimate, and uniquely beautiful. I’ll document everything from signing the paperwork to portraits around Foley Square, Chinatown, and Dumbo.

Can you help us plan our elopement photos?
Of course! We can include Manhattan skyline views, in-home getting ready shots, or even a post-ceremony stroll through Central Park.

Do you offer full-day wedding photography?
Yes! I offer full-day, micro wedding, backyard, estate, and NYC rooftop wedding coverage. My style is documentary and candid—capturing real emotions and all the in-between moments.

Do you offer albums or prints?
Yes! I offer beautiful custom albums and professional print services. Let me know what you’re envisioning and I’ll send over options.

What types of events do you photograph?
I offer candid event photography for:

  • Any wedding related event: Engagement Party, Bridal Shower, Rehearsal Dinner, Welcome Party, and of course, Weddings!

  • Baby Showers & Birthdays

  • Mitzvahs & Family Celebrations

  • Unlimited personal usage rights (no watermark or print fees)

Can I bring props?

Yes, please! Props like toys, flowers, sunglasses, or a favorite book add fun and personal touches to your photos.
